Key Features

Solid European beech wood handle — the benchmark material for gymnastics equipment
European beech wood is the standard material for professional gymnastics apparatus and high-end calisthenics equipment. It provides a smooth, naturally grippy surface that feels secure in the hand without chalk across push-ups, L-sits, and handstand holds, and becomes more refined with use as the wood develops a natural patina from hand contact. The LIFTR XL handle is crafted from solid European beech — not laminate, not composite — delivering the grip quality and feel that serious calisthenics athletes expect from premium parallette equipment.

Precision-welded steel base — zero wobble, zero flex under load
The steel base is precision-welded and finished in a matte black powder coat for durability and a clean, minimal aesthetic. Unlike wood-base parallettes, the steel construction delivers a completely rigid platform that does not flex or compress under bodyweight load — critical for advanced planche training, explosive push-up variations, and handstand holds where any base movement disrupts balance and technique. The powder coat finish protects the steel from scratching and corrosion under regular gym use.

Anti-slip feet — stable on any training surface
The base is fitted with anti-slip feet that maintain contact and stability on gym floors, rubber flooring, wooden floors, and concrete surfaces. The parallettes stay in position during kick-up transitions, explosive push-up sets, and the forward lean forces applied during planche progressions — without sliding, shifting, or requiring repositioning between sets.

Laser-engraved LIFTR branding — built to last
The LIFTR logo is laser-engraved directly into the beech wood handle rather than applied as a sticker or painted finish. Laser engraving does not peel, fade, or wear off with chalk, sweat, or regular training use — keeping the clean aesthetic of the parallette intact over the long term.

Built for the full range of calisthenics and gymnastics movements
The LIFTR XL Parallettes support every wrist-position calisthenics skill: elevated push-ups with full range of motion, L-sit and tuck L-sit holds, V-sits, pike push-ups, wall-assisted and freestanding handstands, handstand push-ups, planche progressions from tuck through straddle, and dips. One set covers every stage of a long-term gymnastics or calisthenics skill programme on the same equipment.

The premium step up from the LIFTR 25cm Wooden Parallettes
The LIFTR XL Parallettes are the premium option in the LIFTR parallette range — European beech wood and welded steel versus the solid wood hex-base construction of the 25cm model. The upgrade is most relevant for athletes training advanced planche progressions and handstand work where base rigidity and handle material quality directly affect training quality, and for home gym owners who want equipment that holds its condition and appearance over years of regular use.

How to Use

Setting up
Place the parallettes on a flat, stable surface with the anti-slip feet sitting flush to the floor. Position them shoulder-width apart as a starting point and adjust inward or outward depending on the exercise and your shoulder width. The anti-slip feet keep the parallettes in place on gym floors, rubber mats, and wooden surfaces without requiring additional anchoring. No assembly required.

Push-ups and elevated push-up variations (beginner to intermediate)
Grip the beech wood handles with palms facing down and wrists in a neutral position. Perform push-ups through the full range of motion — the elevated handle height allows the chest to travel below handle level at the bottom of each rep, increasing pectoral and tricep activation compared to standard floor push-ups. The round wooden handle maintains the wrists in a neutral position, reducing extension strain during high-rep sets. Suitable for standard push-ups, wide-grip push-ups, narrow push-ups, and archer push-up progressions.

L-sit holds (intermediate)
Grip both handles and press your bodyweight up with arms fully extended. Lift both legs out straight until your body forms an L-shape — hips at handle height, legs parallel to the floor. Hold for timed sets, building duration over time. Begin with a tuck L-sit — knees pulled to chest — if a full L-sit is not yet achievable, and extend one leg at a time as hip flexor and core strength develops. The rigid steel base keeps the parallettes completely stable during the compression forces applied in L-sit and V-sit positions.

Handstand training and handstand push-ups (intermediate to advanced)
Position the parallettes on a flat surface with clear space behind for a kick-up. Grip the handles and kick up into a handstand with arms locked out and body vertical. The anti-slip feet and steel base keep the parallettes fixed during kick-up transitions and balance corrections — no sliding or rocking under the dynamic forces of handstand training. Beginners can practise wall-assisted handstands against a wall before progressing to freestanding holds. For handstand push-ups, perform the movement with the nose travelling between the handles at the bottom of each rep.

Planche progressions (advanced)
Grip the handles with straight arms and lean forward, shifting bodyweight progressively over the hands. Begin with tuck planche holds and progress through advanced tuck, straddle, and full planche positions over time. The precision-welded steel base is critical for planche training — the significant horizontal and shear forces applied during forward lean positions demand a base that does not flex, shift, or compress. The beech wood handle provides the grip security needed during the long isometric holds required for planche development.

Dips (intermediate)
Position the parallettes far enough apart to perform dips between them. Press up to a support position with arms locked out. Lower under control until the upper arms are at or below parallel, then press back up to full extension. The steel base provides a completely stable dipping platform that does not rock or shift under the vertical loading of weighted or unweighted dips.

FAQs

What is the difference between the LIFTR XL Parallettes and the LIFTR 25cm Wooden Parallettes?
The LIFTR XL Parallettes use European beech wood handles and a precision-welded steel base with matte black powder coat finish, anti-slip feet, and laser-engraved branding. The LIFTR 25cm Wooden Parallettes use a solid wood construction with a hex-shaped wood base. The XL model is the premium option — the steel base delivers greater rigidity under advanced planche and handstand loads, the beech wood handle provides superior grip quality, and the construction is built for long-term high-frequency use in a home gym environment. The 25cm model is the more accessible entry point for beginners and intermediate athletes.

Why is European beech wood used for gymnastics equipment?
European beech wood is the standard material for professional gymnastics apparatus — including Olympic-level rings, bars, and parallettes — because of its combination of strength, smooth grain, and natural grip. It is hard enough to withstand high loads and repeated use without denting or cracking, smooth enough to be comfortable during extended holds, and naturally grippy enough to use without chalk in standard training conditions. These properties make it the benchmark material for wooden calisthenics equipment.

Are steel base parallettes more stable than wood base parallettes?
Yes — a precision-welded steel base provides more rigidity under load than a wood base because steel does not flex, compress, or deform under bodyweight forces. This is most relevant for advanced training movements such as planche progressions, where significant horizontal force is applied to the base, and handstand training, where any base movement affects balance. For beginners and intermediate athletes performing push-ups and L-sits, the difference is less noticeable — but for serious calisthenics and gymnastics training, the steel base is the more reliable platform.

What is a planche and how do I train for it on parallettes?
The planche is an advanced gymnastics and calisthenics skill where the body is held horizontal and parallel to the floor with straight arms, supported only by the hands. It requires significant straight-arm strength, shoulder stability, and core compression. Training on parallettes begins with tuck planche holds — knees tucked, body horizontal — and progresses through advanced tuck, straddle, and full planche over months or years of consistent training. Parallettes are the preferred equipment for planche training because the raised handle position allows the hips and legs to clear the floor during horizontal holds.

Can I use the LIFTR XL Parallettes on a rubber gym mat?
Yes. The anti-slip feet are designed to maintain stability on rubber flooring, gym mats, wooden floors, and concrete surfaces. Using the parallettes on a gym mat is recommended for handstand training and any training near the floor where additional cushioning is beneficial.

How do parallettes reduce wrist strain compared to floor training?
Training on the floor with flat palms requires the wrists to be held in full extension throughout push-ups, L-sits, and handstand holds — a position that places significant stress on the wrist joint under bodyweight load. Gripping a round parallette handle keeps the wrists in a more neutral position, distributing load more evenly through the hand and reducing extension stress. This makes parallettes a useful tool for athletes with wrist sensitivity, those returning from wrist injury, and anyone building towards high-volume handstand and push-up training.

Are the LIFTR XL Parallettes suitable for handstand push-up training?
Yes. The steel base rigidity and anti-slip feet make the LIFTR XL Parallettes well-suited to handstand push-up training. The handles provide a stable grip surface throughout the movement, the base does not rock under the dynamic loading of the press, and the handle height allows the nose to travel between the bars at the bottom of each rep for full range of motion. Wall-assisted handstand push-up training is a practical starting point before progressing to freestanding reps.
