Key Features
Key Features
Sweat resistant — holds position during high-intensity training
The tape is constructed to maintain its hold as hands heat up and sweat increases during training — the conditions where lower-quality tape typically lifts, bunches, or slips mid-set. Suited to high-rep barbell cycling, kettlebell swings, pull-ups, gymnastics bar work, and CrossFit metcons where consistent grip coverage throughout a full session is the requirement. No re-wrapping between sets.
Flexible — moves with your hands throughout the full range of motion
The tape flexes with natural hand and finger movement rather than restricting it. It wraps comfortably around thumbs, individual fingers, and palms without bunching at the joints or creating pressure points that restrict range of motion during Olympic lifts, pulling movements, or overhead work. Suitable for use across the wide range of grip positions required in CrossFit, weightlifting, and gymnastics-based training.
5cm width — covers thumbs, fingers, and palms
At 5cm wide, the tape is wide enough to wrap thumbs fully, cover palm callus areas, or wrap individual fingers with overlap. The width makes it practical for the hook grip used in Olympic lifting and powerlifting deadlifts, where thumb coverage is the primary requirement, as well as for palm wrapping to protect against bar contact during high-rep pulling movements.
4.5m per roll — multiple sessions per roll
Each 4.5m roll provides enough tape for multiple full wrapping sessions. The length accommodates full thumb and palm coverage at typical wrapping thickness, with tape remaining for subsequent sessions. The 3-roll pack provides extended coverage for solo athletes training through a full training cycle, or for shared use in a gym or CrossFit box environment.
Durable construction — holds across repeated sessions without tearing or peeling
Built to last across multiple training sessions without tearing mid-set, peeling back at the edges, or leaving significant residue on hands or equipment after removal. The durable construction means the tape performs consistently from the first wrap to the last length of the roll.
Pack of 3 — extended supply for continuous training
Three rolls per purchase ensures supply across an extended training period without needing to reorder mid-cycle. Practical for athletes who tape every session, coaches supplying tape for a training group, or CrossFit boxes stocking tape for member use.

How to Use
How to Use
Hook grip thumb wrapping (weightlifting and powerlifting)
Tear or cut a length of tape — approximately 20–30cm for a single thumb wrap. Starting at the base of the thumb, wrap the tape around the thumb in overlapping layers, working up towards the tip. The tape should be firm enough to feel secure but not so tight as to restrict circulation. For hook grip deadlifts and Olympic lifts, focus coverage on the pad of the thumb where bar contact is highest. Apply before your working sets and remove after training.
Palm and callus wrapping (pull-ups and barbell cycling)
Tear a length appropriate for the coverage area — typically 30–50cm for palm wrapping. Apply the tape across the palm, covering the callus areas at the base of the fingers where bar contact causes the most friction during high-rep pulling movements. Wrap firmly enough to stay in position through sets but with enough flexibility to grip the bar naturally. Used for high-rep pull-up sets, toes to bar, and barbell cycling movements in CrossFit metcons.
Finger wrapping
For individual finger coverage — common in gymnastics and calisthenics bar work — tear a shorter length and wrap the affected joint or finger pad in overlapping layers. The 5cm width allows the tape to be folded lengthwise for narrower finger wraps if required.
Application tips
Apply to clean, dry hands for best adhesion. Warm hands and active skin hold tape less effectively than clean dry skin — apply before your session starts rather than mid-session if possible. Press the tape edges firmly after application to secure the ends. For the hook grip, apply tape before chalk — not over it — for best adhesion to the skin.
FAQs
FAQs
What is lifting tape used for?
Lifting tape — also called grip tape or gym tape — is applied to the thumbs, fingers, or palms before training to protect the hands from bar contact during high-rep pulling movements and to maintain grip during heavy lifts. It is most commonly used for hook grip in Olympic lifting and powerlifting deadlifts, palm protection during high-rep pull-ups and barbell cycling, and finger coverage during gymnastics bar and ring work. The tape provides a physical barrier between the skin and the equipment being gripped.
What is the difference between lifting tape and wrist wraps?
Lifting tape is applied directly to the thumbs, fingers, or palms to protect hand skin and maintain grip during barbell and gymnastics movements. Wrist wraps are worn around the wrist joint to provide support and stability during overhead pressing and heavy upper body work. They serve different functions and are often used together — lifting tape for grip and hand protection, wrist wraps for wrist joint stability.
How many wraps does each roll provide?
Usage varies depending on how much tape is applied per session and which wrapping method is used. A full thumb wrap for hook grip typically uses 20–30cm per thumb. A palm wrap uses 30–50cm. At 4.5m per roll, each roll provides a significant number of individual wraps — the exact number depends on your wrapping style and coverage area. The 3-roll pack provides extended supply across a full training cycle for most athletes.
Does lifting tape work with chalk?
Yes — lifting tape and chalk are commonly used together. Apply tape to the thumb or palm first, then apply chalk over the taped and untaped areas as normal. Applying tape over chalk reduces adhesion — always tape first, chalk second.
Is lifting tape reusable?
Lifting tape is designed for single-session use per application. Once removed, the adhesive properties are typically reduced. Some athletes leave tape applied across multiple short sessions in the same day — but for best performance, apply fresh tape at the start of each training session.
Can lifting tape be used for pull-ups?
Yes. Lifting tape is widely used for high-rep pull-up training and gymnastics bar work to protect the palm callus areas where the bar creates friction during kipping pull-ups, toes to bar, and muscle-up training. Apply the tape across the palm before your session, covering the callus ridge at the base of the fingers for maximum protection during high-rep sets.
How does LIFTR Lifting Tape compare to athletic tape for gym use?
Standard athletic or zinc oxide tape is rigid and primarily designed for joint support and strapping — it restricts movement when applied to thumbs and fingers, which reduces grip quality during dynamic lifting movements. LIFTR Lifting & Grip Tape is flexible by design — it moves with the hand and finger joints rather than restricting them, making it better suited to the full range of motion required in weightlifting, CrossFit, and gymnastics training.
